Setting Up Google Analytics

Google Analytics helps you understand how visitors find and interact with your store. Follow these steps to connect your Nuvi store to Google Analytics.

Step 1: Create a Google Analytics Account

  1. Visit analytics.google.com and sign in with your Google account.
  2. Click "Start measuring" to create a new property.
  3. Enter your store name and select your reporting time zone and currency.
  4. Choose "Web" as the platform.
  5. Enter your store's URL.
  6. Google will provide a Measurement ID (format: G-XXXXXXXXXX).

Step 2: Add the Tracking Code to Nuvi

  1. Copy your Measurement ID from Google Analytics.
  2. In Nuvi admin, go to Settings > Themes > Customize.
  3. Look for the Analytics / Tracking section.
  4. Paste your Measurement ID in the Google Analytics ID field.
  5. Save your settings.

Nuvi will automatically add the Google Analytics tracking script to every page of your storefront.

Step 3: Verify Installation

After adding the tracking code:

  1. Visit your storefront in a new browser tab.
  2. Go to Google Analytics > Realtime.
  3. You should see your visit appear in the real-time report within a few seconds.

Key Reports to Monitor

  • Acquisition > Traffic Sources — See where your visitors come from (search, social, direct, referral).
  • Engagement > Pages — See which pages are most popular.
  • Demographics — Understand your audience's location and devices.
  • Conversions — Track completed purchases and checkout funnels.

Enhanced E-commerce Tracking

For detailed e-commerce analytics (product views, add to cart, checkout steps, purchases), enable Enhanced E-commerce in your Google Analytics property settings. Nuvi sends standard e-commerce events automatically when analytics is configured.
